1. To worship the one true God in spirit and truth.
- But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. - John 4:23
2. To equip God’s people for the work of the ministry.
- And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, - Eph. 4:11-12
3. To shine the light of a redeemed life to a dark world.
- and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, - Rom. 2:19
- that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, - Phil. 2:15
- In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven - Matt. 5:16
4. To proclaim Jesus until his glorious return.
- Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. - Col. 1:28
- For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. - 1 Cor. 11:26
5. To love one another deeply from the heart.
- Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, - 1 Pet. 1:22
- A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. - John 13:34-35
6. To exhibit the servant heart of Jesus.
- But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, - Mark 10:43
- Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant,being born in the likeness of men. - Phil 2:5-7
7. To obey the “great commission” of Jesus.
- And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matt. 28:18-20
- How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news! - Romans 10:14-15
